38. Centipede Laughter (蜈蚣笑) Topic: 38. Centipede Laughter Yoga Class Notes: One of 40 Foundation Exercises The "Centipede Laughter" in my notes always makes me curious. This move needs everyone to lie in a circle with heads touching in the center and feet pointing out. We have never tried it in online class because the camera can't capture it. I often picture the scene: A few of us with our heads together like the center of a flower, and our feet like the spread-out petals. Each person's legs point in different ways, then we all kick up into the air, like a giant centipede moving its many legs. I imagine when we raise our arms, we might touch a classmate's fingers by accident. Or while doing bicycle kicks in the air, I hear panting and laughs from nearby. Just thinking about it feels fun. Right now, we can only practice in front of our own screens. But I look forward to the day when we can try this in a real class with classmates. Then, our centipede will be a ha...

40. One minute laughter for world peace (為世界和平歡笑一分鐘) Topic: 40 One minute laughter for world peace Yoga Class Notes: One of 40 Foundation Exercises Before our online Laughter Yoga class ends, we sometimes do a one-minute laughter exercise together, dedicating it to world peace. Even though we’re all in our own homes, through the screen it feels like we’re united as one group. After taking a deep breath, and before the laughter starts, I remember something I once read: "The happiest people are those who don’t watch the news!" Ho ho ho! Ha ha ha!  I place both hands on my heart, begin laughing softly, and slowly raise my arms toward the sky. The laughter lasts for one minute, and I imagine it traveling like waves to every part of the world, bringing a little calm with it. After the practice, I feel lighter inside—and I hope it helps others too. 39. Rowing Laughter(划船笑)

Topic: 39. Rowing Laughter Yoga Class Notes: One of 40 Foundation Exercises One day, the leader of the online laughter yoga class did the "rowing laughter" move. I followed the instructions, sat in front of the screen, opened my legs, and made a rowing pose. The leader said: "Come on, imagine we are rowing a boat. Make sounds with your mouth, hum-ha, hum-ha..." I joined in right away, in just 0.0001 seconds, making the "hum-ha, hum-ha" sounds one after another. After a few rows, the leader said: "Okay, now lean back!" I leaned back naturally. I found that I was not like before—I no longer hesitated or doubted, even though there was no boat and no other people. Laughter yoga is a great training camp. It helps me feel less shy and unnatural in front of the camera. I even thought I could be a temporary actor, like a small character in a movie by an "abstract" director. "Ha! Ha! Ha!" I laughed out loud, imagining I was really rowi...

  36. Head On Belly Laughter (頭枕肚皮大笑) Topic: 36. Head On Belly Laughter Yoga Class Notes: One of 40 Foundation Exercises Online Laughter Yoga is all about creativity. One day, some classmates were watching a video: Exercise #36 (Head On Belly Laughter). Everyone looked puzzled on the screen. One of them said, "It's about putting your head on someone's belly and laughing together." I thought, "How can we do that online? Am I supposed to stick my head into the computer screen?" He seemed to read my mind and said with a smile, "Everyone, use your imagination! Imagine your head is on someone's belly, feel the warmth and elasticity, and then laugh out loud!" Okay, imagination is my superpower. I closed my eyes and imagined myself lying on a soft grassy field, my head resting on a round, elastic belly. The belly vibrated gently with the owner's laughter, and a warm breath came over me. (Hahaha...) I started laughing loudly, imagining the belly vi...

37. Bull's Eye Laughter (靶心笑) Topic: 37. Bull's Eye Laughter Yoga Class Notes: One of 40 Foundation Exercises Two classmates said: "Today, let's do the 37th exercise of Laughter Yoga." Classmate A said: "Huh! But there are only two of us!" Classmate B said: "Right! Even two people can do it!" And so, all the imagination began... With our heads facing the screen—the center of our imaginary circle—and our feet stretching outward like flower petals, we lay on the ground. We took turns speaking and leading. We closed our eyes and started our laughter meditation. At first, we laughed quietly. Slowly, it got louder. I felt the laughter coming from my belly and spreading through my whole body. During the process, I imagined the laughter shooting like rays of light toward the center, gathering into a ball of energy. It made my body feel light and relaxed. After we finished, I sat up. I realized my mood was much better, and my mind was clear. It turns o...

 35. Beauty Parlour Theme (美容院主題) Topic: 35. Beauty Parlour Theme Yoga Class Notes: One of 40 Foundation Exercises (Old-school thinking)   I once heard someone say: "Women don't get pretty for men to look at. We do it for other women to look at — especially after a certain age." When I heard that, I immediately thought of laughter yoga... So I pretend I'm walking into a super luxurious beauty salon (actually it's probably just my bathroom ^_^!!). Nice lights, great mood, and I start my "laughter beauty treatment". First — facial mask:   I slap my palms on my face like it's a thick mask — slap slap slap — while shouting "Mask ha-ha! Mask ha-ha!"   I slap until my cheeks are bright red. It really looks like I just took off a real mask. Next — waxing:   I pretend to pull out invisible hairs one by one. My whole body shakes each time I "pull", and I shout "Waxing ho-ho! Waxing ho-ho!"   It feels painful but good at the same ...

34. Sports and Games Laughter (運動和遊戲笑聲)

34. Sports and Games Laughter (運動和遊戲笑聲) Topic: 34. Sports and Games Laughter Yoga Class Notes: One of 40 Foundation Exercises In online laughter yoga, there's something called "Sports Laughter." For example: the weightlifting action. We imagine lifting a super heavy dumbbell. At first, we hold our breath really hard, then slowly lift it up, making (exhale! inhale!) sounds as we lift. Finally, we (finally!) lift it up, and then burst into happy laughter. This really helps us release stress. I really put effort into each imitation pose. Why? Because I believe in (bodyweight strength training). I don't really need a dumbbell or any tools. Clenching my fists, tightening my arms, and using a lot of strength – these are all good bodyweight strength training. Imitating swimming, moving our hands like in the water, our bodies swaying too, making (splish-splash) sounds with our mouths, and then laughing together. Awesome! This action not only moves our muscles and bones but al...
